Online Benefits May be Unavailable for BCBS Il, TX, NM, MT, and OK Due to Annual Updates

[01.15.2014]  Passport received the following message from BCBS IL, TX, NM, MT, and OK regarding an issue with eligibility benefits.  We requested an estimated fix time, but they were unable to provide this information.  Passport will post any updates we receive from BCBS.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of BCBS Il, BCBS TX, BCBS NM, and BCBS MT, BCBS OK  is currently processing annual benefit changes for 2014. While policies are being updated, providers may be instructed to contact BCBS”s Provider Customer Service when conducting eligibility and benefit transactions.

BCBS’s may experience an increase of calls due to the large number of policy changes underway. To avoid lengthy hold times, providers are encouraged to defer their general eligibility and benefit calls for patients who are not scheduled for an upcoming appointment.

If your patient is in need of immediate service, please contact the appropriate provider customer service number listed on either their identification card or within the transaction response.
