Patient Payment Estimates (PPE)

  • New Functionality – There is a new feature in PPE that allows a client to change their estimates calculations. This new functionality allows the Deductible and Copays to be calculated separately from the Out of Pocket (OOP). This is identified by clients on a plan code basis, for now.  This change will not be turned on for customers automatically.  The client must contact customer support (at ecarehelpdesk@passporthealth.com) and identify which plans need to be calculated differently.  We will work with the client to change their configuration file. This will change the basic functionality of all estimates ran for these plan codes and will work on all versions of PPE.
  1. If the client chooses to Exclude the Deductible Remaining from the OOP, the estimate calculation will work as follows- ((Insurance Adjusted Charges – Deductible Remaining – Copay) * Coinsurance) + Copay = Subtotal.   Compare Subtotal to the OOP Remaining Value and choose the lesser of the two + Deductible Remaining Value = Estimated Patient Responsibility
  2. If the client chooses to Exclude the Copay from the OOP, the estimate calculation will work as follows – ((Insurance Adjusted Charges – Deductible Remaining – Copay) * Coinsurance) + Deductible Remaining = Subtotal.  Compare Subtotal to the OOP Remaining Value and choose the lesser of the two + Copay = Estimated Patient Responsibility
  3. If the client chooses to Exclude both the Copay and Deductible Remaining from the OOP, the estimate calculation will work as follows – ((Insurance Adjusted Charges – Deductible Remaining – Copay) * Coinsurance) = Subtotal.  Compare Subtotal to the OOP Remaining Value and choose the lesser of the two + Copay + Deductible Remaining Value = Estimated Patient Responsibility
