Passport deployed a NEXT bar enhancement on Thursday, May 09, 2013 that allows activity to follow users that move from one workstation to another, but limits activity to the active workstation. When logging in another workstation a message will appear on your original workstation. The “Your NEXT Bar session has been paused, click here to resume” button in the NEXT bar will display on your original workstation while you work at the new location. Once you click on this button, the NEXT bar will populate data to your current location and any other locations you are logged in at will be paused. This will allow the convenience of not having to log in each time you want to change desktops during the day.
Paused NEXT bars still adhere to the security rules of auto logging out inactive sessions and clearing itself of PHI due to inactivity, this simply allows the convenience of switching back and forth between workstations without the hassle of having to re-login each time.
